Sample CDs on eBay? Anyone try them?

There are about a million of them on there...are any of them good?...which ones?

all depends- id personally avoid any that give you loops whether drum loops or mmusical phrases...these are normally bunk!

the single hit cd can vary widely depending on the style and company producing them.....for nice matched acoustic drum kits and real multispanned instruments its sample cds you wanna turn to.....but id watch out cos again there are a load of crap ones.....

real matched drum kits: Bobclearmountain
electronic drum kits: wizoo platinuum electronic drums
Guitars/Orchestral: Peter Siedlzak and Hans Zimmer
old skool- vince clarkes synths, mike pinders mellotron

i have loads of other bespoke cds full of custom hits and kits which you probably cant get elsewhere and its these combined with some of the commecial cds i get some of my sounds from....just gotta spend the time tweaking the progs as most sample cds can sound pretty bad staight outta the box with no tweaks.....

for crusty dusty drums just use vinyl, a bespoke set of loops to chop like the dusty fingers range etc or one of tutors packs.....sample cds are more for the sounds you cant get from sampling songs....you wont get a full piano from a song even its an ahmed jamal piano solo and you wont get thick and dirty drums from a sample cd...horses for courses...

Just dont buy sampel cds thinking they will work straight away...you need to load up and program the sounds so they respnd musically

I got some CDs from the guy I bought my MPC from. Some were wack - I won't mention names, cause I don't wanna hurt nobody's business off of my one opinion......but one that I liked was called "AUDIOSQUAD - Sounds + Gear For The Serious Producer."

I rarely use it for my beats (maybe just for layering here and there), but it's fun to play around with.

Some of the Tutor's sample packs are decent too, and not too expensive.

If you search enough, and you can find some pretty good sounds on the internet for free.

just buy some of the one's that look interesting to you.
For 10 bucks, it's hard to feel like you got ripped off anyways.
I've gotten some really rotten ones, and there's always something
good in it no matter what. Plus if it's just bunk loops, you can use
recycle and chop the drum parts that you like and you have some
awsome material to play with.

I think it's that you get what you pay for, 10-20 dollars for samples is CHEAP!

Worste case scenario, if you hate the disk and can't find anything usable on it, just sell it back to someone on ebay!

when i first started i bought a few elab ones. goto www.bigfis h.com to get em. they are exensive though like $100 but real good shit to chop. i also got a few of tutors packs and they cool. The insturment mulitsample ones are tight.

elab is nice,probably my favorite commercial company, tutor got some nice drums, he got that dirt for you

small cyber world.. anyways..yes i have an mpc1000 and a yamaha cs2x and a 1200 and an 05pro....i purchased the yamaha a couple days ago and do not have it yet...its on its way though! i bought 2 sample cd's on ebay and they are worth the money. whats 10 bucks for all those samples? especially when you can filter and change the sound of them with the mpc? i'm sure the sample cd doveski suggested is definately hot and i would get it..i have 3 discs worth of samples and would be glad to share.
