Time Stretch Thru Midi on My MPC 3000

Btw, can I dump my MPC 3000 Samples into My S950 to stretch them and then bring them back into my MPC 3000 thru MIDI using MIDI DUMP???
What's the best way??

Nope...Them samples are sounds not midi information.

Why not jus trigger from the 950

for real. u got a rack sampler. use the mpc as a seq and the s950 as a sampler.

^^^yeah binger is right. you do use midi, but not in the way you are thinking. Basically you connect the midi cables from the 950 to the mpc....then you control the sounds just like you would if they where in the mpc, but they are not, they are in the 950 and the midi cables tell the 950 what to do.

Its exactly the same as if you used a drum program in the mpc. Change the track to say "midi 1a" instead of "drum 1" etc. Basically all this does is changes where the messages are sent. I.E. when you hit a pad and you have drum 1 selected it plays the sound assigned to the pad, but when you have midi 1 selected it plays the sound assigned to the same midi note as the pad, that is on the 950. Im sort of going off on a tagent, but thats basically how it works.

You can do that. Although you used to be able to do it much simpler back in the day. One program that you could check out is DSP Quattro for the Mac. Another is Peak. I believe that Peak still does Midi Sample Dump.

In fact, the S3000 can also transfer samples to the Mac via SCSI, which is a helluva lot faster than midi. I forget which software still has the SCSI transfer option. You may have to use it in Classic, but it saves time. Look for it at the Akai pages at:

just go through the analog ins/outs. That's the simplist way. You can't send/recieve audio through Midi.

Midi is just a data exchange format.

Send info....that's all.

It's just an older language an slow as hell, but it can send any type of data.

Read up on the protocol. That's just what Midi Sample Dump is and to another degree, that's what SYSEX is.
