turbo phatt or proteus 2000

what should i get i dont have a keyboard cus i cant afford one..i nedd nice sounds for hip hopbeats..i need like good sub bass,bass strings pianos flutes and shiit.i need the patches to sound real,not like that shet that comes out of a casio...so what should i cop???im leaning towards the turbo phatt cus of its hip hop theme and just cop a protoza rom...holla back

Yeah that will work. Also look for the Mophatt. I think the only differance is the amount of expansion cards you can fit into it.

The proteous 2000, is also the same thing, it just has differant sound card in it.

I own a px7. IVe got the mophatt sounds, protean drum, and zr-76 expansion cards.

I like the mophatt for bass and drums. The protean has nice drums, but nothing special ( i mean they nice, but i sample my drums on my mpc, so they arent worth taking up a expansion slot)

The zr76 has piano, and a few good synthy sounds, the organs are good too-few strings. But Lacks on some sounds. The Piano kicks ass, i mean, just awesome.

OVerall id say the turbo phatt would be nice, but you should definately get an expansion card.. I would sya get the proteous expansion card, zr76, and Vintage Keys, orchestra.

IT just depends on what you like. If you like piano, hands down get the zr76. But the mophatt i think is essential for all those basses.

if you sample them. Those things im talking about are "sound modules" and thier expansion cards. The expansion cards adds more sounds to the sound module.

Basically a sound module is like a keyboard, but without the keys. It just has sounds and a synth engine to edit those sounds and create your own.

producers (thats you) use sound modules to add synthy sounds to thier beats, or to create thier own sounds. You can control them via midi or by sampling them.

midi isnt audio. it is like programming informatioin. you hook the chords up, and the mpc sends control informatioin to tell the sound module how to act, like what note to play, how hard or soft, etc.

The sequencer on the mpc records the midi data, so you can edit it, play it back, change sounds, etc.

actually a pgm is just like a sound module, it is just internal to the mpc. When you record sequences on the mpc using your pgms its the same as you would with a sound module, its just that the sounds are in the mpc. You are not actually recording the sounds, you are just triggering them with midi. When you hook up a sound module, or keyboard.......you trigger, record and play back the sounds just like your pgms....they are just external

DMoney of the three modules you are asking about get the cheapest one.
You can buy a ROM card later on, that will turn what ever EMU module you have into one of the other EMU module depending on the ROM card you buy.
example :
Buy the proteus 2000 Module, then you buy the turbo phatt ROM card,now you've turn the proteus 2000 into a turbo phatt module. Each module has three rom slots so you can have all three units in one.
**Warning** rom cards maybe hard to find as well as the modules emu no longer makes them.
