PRO TOOLS QUESTION

IF I AM RECORDING MY SONG INTO PRO TOOLS AND I HAVE THE 8 OUTS ON THE MPC.... I SHOULDN'T MESS WITH THE MIXER SETTINGS AT ALL ON THE MPC BECAUSE I WILL FIX THAT AFTER WHEN I DUMP THE SONG INTO PRO TOOLS RIGHT???? IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOUNDN'T WORRY ABOUT TILL AFTER LIKE COMPRESION ?

You may need to adjust the levels on the MPC mixer before going into Pro Tools because the signal may be overloading and you should always try to record as hot a level your system permits. You would be using the MPC mixer like a gain control for each idividual sound/sample.

And I've read that while tracking into DAW's you should leave the faders at 0 db and adjust from sound source volume entering DAW.

i'm just about to get pro tools... with an m-box..
i dont have the 8 outs for the mpc so i guess i have to record each track individually from the mpc to pro tools.... is that right?
if so is there an easy way to do this or do i have to sit thru each tracks duration....

i have the mbox and sorry thats what your gona have to do is sit and do it but you can do it two tracks if you had the 8 out puts on the back of the mpc cause the mbox has two inputs.....your also gona have to get a midi interface for that mbox to if you want to be able to midi sync your recordings.

i'm gettin a pretty cheap interface to input my mpc.

couple more questions cos i havent got my new system yet (im fiendin tho) ...

1. is it really neccessary to set up the clock and all that stuff between the mpc and pro tools... thing is im only really usin pro tools to master my tracks. So im still gonna be doin like 90 percent of the work on the mpc...

2. can u make the bass sound noticably fatter by usin pro tools.

i'm sure ill figure it all out when i get my stuff... but i'm just excited...hahah like a little kid.

I've got an M-Box, and if youre just gonna be dumping 2-track stereo mixes into PT then nah, you don't really need to sweat the midi setup. BUT, it difenately wouldn't hurt you to figure it out, because once its setup, its nice to be able to have everything synced and to have more control of your individual sounds (i think the automation on PT is pretty nice.) As far as the bass goes, I guess you can really through a bunch of plug-ins and stuff at your bass to boost it up, but I honestly like the sound of the MP, so who knows?

Listen forget the M-Box, a Digi 001, is the next step up and will only cost about $200 more. (you have to shop for this price but the release of the Digi 002 has really knocked the price of the 001) The M-Box is still so popular that it's price hasn't really dropped, pehaps due to the fact it's so portable but the 001 isn't exactly huge(it does look like a toy though). The 001 has eight in's and out's so problem solved. They both have the same Focusrite Pre's and both come with Pro Tools 6 (if you've mac running Os-x) or PT 5.something something for PC.

Check it out before you go with M-Box
