any helpful hints on how to get drums to knock w/out eqing. where is the best place to look for drums ready to go? not talking about the cheesy disks they sell on ebay or jacking an open drum off of someone's record. is it just digging for breakbeats?

why not eq?

distortion, filtering, compression, layering, digging. All techniques are your friends.

I have recently started to sample drumsounds from synths and softsynths.
This may sound stupid but my 3000le makes them sound fat, plus I can shape the sound up with the filters and decay etc.
This makes any "almost good" sound banging!
