yeah. i mean, i bought mpc-tutors sample packs............and still use some of them in my tracks............and ive got like access to my emu shit........triton, etc. Plus the countless rock records in my crates-my breaks
Basically, whatever sounds good. If he doesnt feel like he can get some hot shit from vinyl, maybe hes not feelin it. Hopefully hell buy a sample cd, and realize, that hell still need to either mix his drums better, eq them, or work his skills to still get bangin drums. The secret is guys, there is no secret. Just hard work. You gotta know what you are doing. A sample cd isnt neccesarily going to solve your drum problems as it depends on what each track needs, etc.
But to each his own. Maybe he just needs to find his thang. Or maybe hes just sick of using what hes got and needs inspiration. Check out mpc-samples.com they are good. also try
