I SAW THIS MAGAZINE WITH THA ALCHEMIST,GREENLANTERN,DR. DRE AND PREMIER AND ALL OF THEM WERE STANDING OVER A BIG STUDIO MIXING BOARD LIKE U SEE IN ALL THE FAMOUS PICTURES--WELL MY QUESTION IS IF EVERYONE IS USING PRO TOOLS OR WHATEVER THEN WHY R THESE GUYS TWERKIN THE KNOBS ON THE BIG BOARD INSTEAD OF DOING IT IN PRO TOOLS. :(

they record with pro tools, mix down on the console

Not usually, usually it's a different recorder, like a high end CD recorder or something.

For dre his beat skeletons are put to dat. I imagine when everything is complete it goes back there as well. Alot of guys use a alesis masterlink as well.

oh but it gets recorded to hd ptools i thought. The final stage yeah i would say dat, reel, cd, or digital. on a side note, I have a quality cd recorder, a HHB burnit 880.

PT plays it back, the SSl mixes it, and a different recorder records it all.
