The diff. btwn MIDI sync and recording via outputs????

Here's the deal, I recently discovered that I could run my MPC beats thru
my US-122 interface and record into Soundforge. I chop and edit what i need and then save as .wav and import the wavs into a protools session.
(currently working w/ M-box=no midi)

I bought Cubase SE 2 months ago and I've been attempting to midi sync my mpc to cubase.

i was under the impression that no audio recording program would record
midi data, since it is just data and not actual sound.
When i plug run an instrument cable from Mpc to cpu interface it records just fine.

what advantages will midi sync bring my studio setup, or will recording to soundforge and saving as .wav do just fine???? Help me to see the big picture!

First off, the MBox came with a manual, read it! If you got it used and it didn't come with a manual then go to the digi website and do some research on your investment.

Second, no need to record into SF, you can record straight into Pro Tools via the MBox(got that manual open yet?)

Third, syncing the MPC to your DAW will allow you to record multiple takes all in sync with one another.
