What up MPC fam,
I got this singer and she is real hot, beautiful voice. She is also write great songs. The only problem is I cant get her to open up on her songs. I mean it is almost like she falls in love with how she wrote the song, and doesnt want to change it for nothing. For example: Say at the end of her verse leading into the chorus, she sings her last couple of notes down. I want her to take them up, so there is a build up to the chorus. She "tries" but always says that she doesnt like it, that it doesnt sound right, even though I think its hot. It can be frustrating. Basically just asking how can I get the most out of her with out offending her. Thanks for the help.

thats what separates producers from beat makers- if you find out how be sure to telll....

Step one has to be to get her to trust your opinions. Record a take with the vocals her way, save that and ask her to sing an alternative take with your changes, just as an alternative. If that turns out better, she'll probably hear it too and the next track you record she might take in your advice right away.

yea i agree wit digi. but of course, if she's not comfortable singing the notes a certain way it wont come out right. it'll sound unnatural. but yea i agree wit digi

Also have to go with Digi on this one. That's solid advice. It'l get her to trust you and that's the most important thing when working with anyone.

I'd say two glasses of WARM water and a 30 min vocal excersise session before hand. That way you'll vibe with her in the session and bond. There can't be any nerves in the studio coz that all comes out on tape.

and thats all your getting from me.
