Lets say am running my drums into..............

the avalon AD2055 eq, For those who have used one , do they pack a mean punch or what? I was jus looking at one and thinking of multitracking my drums into the 002 rack but juicing each one up on this eq, getting evil ideas

if u got the money why not. i am sure there other options out there a whole lot cheaper though.

Well eq in general should give your drums a lil extra punch.

U know what they cost right - Hope u got some high end drums to put thru it

I believe investing in a couple of high quality channel strips would give you more bang for the buck (no pun intended).

A channel strip is like a "combo" unit, combining a mic and/or line preamp with eq and/or compression and possibly other functions as well.

You could think of it as a single channel from a high-end mixing desk in a box.

I got the 737-SP myself. Great unit. Good all in one package. It has tubes in it, an EQ section, compressor and a switchable mic/line input. Also a DI for instruments with no amplifier like electric guitars minus the stacks. It definitely adds 'life' to everything I put in Protools. However, you would be wasting your time using it without good A/D conversion. Apogee A/D's are good for this. I got an old Rosetta. FYI I used this same audio chain before Protools when I was rockin ADAT's and a Mackie and it made a big difference in the quality.

Also, if you rock an MPC or sum'n you can use the chain to go into the MPC and then again to your recording source and touch the sound twice. Look into also Manley gear, Empircal Labs, Summit Audio, there's a lot of good sh** out there in the same relative price range.

..I forgot, if you can afford it, that SSL Super Analogue sh** is fire too, a little pricy though.
