pannig from side 2 side?

i'm working on a song where i want to pan the drums from side 2 side how do i do this i know i've seen this on this site but i can't find it can some one give me a hand , thanks i appreciate it, oh yeah can it be done with a midi instrument hooked to mpc 2000xl, thanks

Check the tutorials, mainly seqeuncer tricks, I think.

There's a few ways you can do it... and all of 'em sound a bit different.

You can put the same sample on more than one pad, panned to different positions, and alternate between them.

OR

You use the automated mix feature and record the mix changes as you manually pan the sound.

OR

If you have the Eb16 option, you can check out the auto pan effect.

OR

If you're triggering a midi device, you can send midi CC messages to change the pan position.

OR

If said midi device has internal effects you can see if there's a auto pan effect or feature on that.


Just throwin a few ideas out there..... hope one of 'em helps.

can you explain the automix feature in alittle more detail thanks for the other tips i will try them to see how it works.

hey what sound source do you use to record. i used a turntable and it didnt work may be im not doing it rite:
1shift- mixer-
2push setup
3 change therecord mix change to yes
then what?
do you record from aoutside source or do you recrd from the mpc straight from it's self, and what do you do hit record and play on the mpc...explain a little more please, and what is this fucntion used for.... thanks

After you go thru those three steps, jus hold rec (or overdub) and press play on the MP as usual. While recording adjust the pan position or level. When you're finished press play and you should hear and see the adustments you made during playback. Its best to do this on a unused track cuz its hell trying to correct mistakes in Step Edit. If you've already figured this out, my apologies for the redundancy.

take two of the same samples and place them on different pads and in the mixer pan the first sample to the left and pan the second sample to thr right. and then record the two samples together. giving you that side to side motion in your track.

thamks for your reply's ,i think i got it now , ijust have to work at it to make it sound right,ive tried both ways but ican't get it to come out in stereo, it won't record in to my vs 880 , i cant hear it in the headphones but when i record to the vs you can't hear it in effect. i have to check the connections from the vs to mpc,
