Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

I"ve put together some nice beats with my MPC....I'm going to be putting lyrics to them.....and I want to record them. I"m not trying to make money or anyting.....this is just for my hobby. I've got a 4 track that my brother used with his band....can I simply record my beats to one track and my vocals to another. I know this will be very old school/prehistoric...but that's what I want. None of this computer stuff that I don't have nor care for......get back at me with any suggestions. Thanx, Season

Ai.

Seems like you've basically got it figured out. You'd do best to record the MPC to two tracks, a hard left and hard right for the stereo outs, if you can afford that. This will allow you to maintain the stereo image from the MPC.

Just ask your brother how to run the deck if it's confusing and you're set, dude. Basically with a multi-track you record a beat or click track and then all the musicians record to the click track. Same deal here only you'll be just dubbing the vocal.
