yo, can anyone tell me what hardware or software I need to record someone over the phone. example, c-murder is in prison, and recorded his album over the phone. Im doing the same but need this info. I bought a special phone connector from radio shack, it solves only half the problem. i can record a long distance call into my track machine, but the caller cant hear my music without turning upmy speakers, then you have distortion from the music being so loud. :(

uh...

why dont you put two phones in the same room when youre recording? Give him headphones so he can hear the beat....let him make a call from phone A to phone B.....record phone B.

Yeah, just get him the tape or cd for his walkman and he can spit his flows while you record then you can sync up later with the beat on your recorder.

yo he is over 800miles away, i know there is a more covient way to do this live over the phone instead of mailing music and lyrics back and forth.its been done many times, im just out of the loop on this one.

why dont you guys both acquire the same recording software, and then email or transfer recording sessions back to each other. really simple. i do this all the time with my friends when we work on skratch music. if you want the phone effect, it is extremely easy to achieve this with effects, eq, and filtering. Cool Edit/Adobe Audition have a telephone frequency preset in the program.

^^ exactly, why make it so hard? this can be done with any vocal take through some EQ/filter settings. or you could have him record the vocals how he wants them and then play them over the phone to you.

but tell me something....why record songs over the phone when you can spend a little extra time to email or even snail mail the vocals on a cd with cd quality? recording over the phone SUCKS!!!!! it'll sound terrible. there will be no bass in his voice and it'll take out all the warmth of the recording....
