Well the stuff he's been doing lately has been kind of wack. Like he ain't been trying hard. Hopefully detox will be different.

I just went and bought the Chronic album again for the first time (twice). Dre was much more complex in those days. His recent work hasn't really moved me. He probly feels he has less to prove now.

Dre's beats are overrated...

Dre as a producer is one of the illest in HipHop...

hope this makes sense to you guys...

Overratted. Achieves alot though, and has a good ear for a proper mix.

where is the originality?

Haven't heard anything fresh in quite a while?

Maybe if he worked with a diff lineup of live instrumentalists once in a while he could have an evolving sound.

I'm not knocking him at all, it just seems a little stagnant lately.

He's definately at the top of the list for all time best producer.

the thing is with dre is that he was the originator of the sound that was the basis for all gangsta rap. all those synth melodies and all that instrumentation in the NWA shit. Dopeman has been copied and copied. i think he evolved from the early NWA to the Chronic but he pretty much chilled once he got to chronic...just stayed on that style and road it....

I do like some of the stuff he has done for the game album though. Hate it or Love it is pretty fresh, nice chilled/happy summer tune.
