TrackMute

Hey everyone.A couple days ago I moved into a college dorm and don't have enough room for the MPC and even if I did...someone proabbly would steal it.So I'm working with software.Normally on the MPC, I get a 4 or 8 bar loop going, and arrange it with breakdowns change ups and all that with the track mute feature.Now I'm makin a really complex instrumental...in software.With like 20 tracks and lots of changes.It would take me too much time doing it linear (copying and pasting for 90 bars/measureS) and it would take me too much time to arrange it in song mode.So I'm wondering is there any way I can mute trakcs on the fly with my 32 key midi controller in Cubase SX3 or Reason3 MPC style?

seems to me like copying and pasting IS the fastest way to do it if you have the tempo right and you can grid it out

It depends on the controller.
I tried to do it with my m-audio oxygen-8 and never got it to work right. Now i'm using a Behring bcf-2000 and works perfectly.

Bear in mind that you you have automation on each track in Cubase sx, so you could also just record your mutes per track.

how do you actually do it though?I only know how to get my midi controller to play patches in VST's n shit.How do i enable the track mute mode?Where is it?

We're talking about a controller with some buttons on it right? Not just keys, cause you're going to use the "learn" function in Cubase and that only works with controller values, not midinotes.

p.s. copy-pasting is not that hard in Cubase SX either. Just click on the part (or shift-click on more than one part) that you want to copy, press ctrl-K and fill in the number of copies you want.
