What format are professional songs put into before there put on cd? Like if you were to go buy a cd from the store what format are the files in?

The audio cd's you buy from the store are in redbook format. Sometimes enhanced CD (ie. some audio cd's you can also put in a computer and watch a video and commentary from the artist - Nas and Xzhibit use to do this alot).

Any format they wanna work with I guess, but they are ultimately converted to 44khz 16bit wave files for burning to CD.
