That too! If your recording at night everything is gona always seem louder so try to record during the day when there is more things going on. Next use head phones to record and then play back out ya speakers when needed to reference the recording. That's the best I can say.

Do a search for "soundproofing". There's been lots of good tips & links here on the subject. Just temporarily hanging things like quilts or thick blankets over your window & door can help block a bit of outside noise & also cut down on any sound reflection in the room.

Also do some research on microphone placement.

Let your mom know in advance you want to do this recording session because you'll need her & anyone else in your home to be quiet too. Maybe you can arrange for her to go out.

the best way is to wait until shes not home.

if you decide to go the closet route just know youre gonna be sweatin like you were in the hole at alcatraz.

if its convenient and if you have a basement i would do it down there. just hang some blankets up in a corner down there and get your spit on.

make sure the basement aint empty tho.

^ i cant go in the basement i dont live in a "house" its a 3 family, the closet would be the best bet i guess for me
