Hey wuts up MPC Fam!

I currently got some Spirit Absolute 2's Monitor speakers which are really nice, but now I'm looking a purchasing some Genelec 8030A for my MPC set up. Just wondered what monitor speakers other people where using. May be get some other speaker recomendations!

Last month there were 3 million of these posts at the same time (a bunch mine, I'll admit it  ) and I did a lot of research and I found out that it is all personal preference. I got the KRK Rokit RP5's, and I think they KILL anything else in thier price range, but most heads'll say that about thier own monitors, that's why they bought 'em. If you got access to a music store, go hear 'em all. If not, you gotta sift through thousands of user reviews at on-line stores to get a good overall opinion of each, and even then, that's all second hand advice. Good luck.

i agree with mic. It's definately personal choice and then experience with whatever you choose. I use Fostex pm2s. I bought then cos in my price range they had an excellent sound when compared to much more expensive monitors. And I liked their sound. Almost a year later I know exactly where things sit (or should sit) in them for what I like. I can throw ridiculous transients at them and they respond really clean and sharp. The bass end is good too (but I need to sort my boomy room out!).

The only real experience of genelecs I've had are the 1029s without a sub and they were OK, but I never got a chance to really drive them... I thought they were a little harsh, on reflection.
