I use reason 2.5 w/ outboard M-audio Quattro ( around $200 ) It has midi in/out and 4 in/out 1/4 in. jacks. Its also expandable to include mic pre's but I just use my mixer for that. Good luck

The audigy will be hard to fit into a laptop
I have a Quattro for my laptop too. The soundquality is great, but the driver are a bit troublesome. In fact, most people can't get it to work at all. Check out http://www.jukebox.no/forum/ for some user opinions.

I can only think of one e-magic soundcard right now, that blue plastic box right? A friend of mine has it, and it sounded pretty good. But from what I remember it didn't have midi. If you want to use the mpc along with your laptop you'll need midi too. you can buy separate midi boxes too, but i think it's easier to have it all in one box.
