ok my question is how can i best use my pc's soundcards 8 outs? after i mix down a song (instrumentals, vocals) is it necessary to send all 8 channels to a mixer for recording a final mix to mini disc, if its not would it help or hurt my final mix.thnx

nah the 8 outs are more for sending data to effects processors and returning them to the pc for recording w/ efx.

after u mix it down in the pc, master it. basically get the levels "loud" like the commercial recordings you hear.

"the 8 outs are more for sending data to effects processors and returning them to the pc for recording w/ efx."

is this practice beneficial or not really necessary when using a pc. i ask because i only have a dp/4+ effects processor and a pair of compressors and i often try to put everything to work and truthfully both pc effects or efect processors both tend to over work me. in this case which would be best. thnx again for the help

if you really want to use those fx and the compressor go for it, otherwise dont bother.

mixing down on your pc will give the cleanest result, although if you REALLY like the sound/tone of overdriving your mixer or its preamps go for it.

just experiment. try something, mix a track down, master it, and move on. dont get trapped in trying out everything all at once, or you wont finish anything and wont progress.

try something new, reach a certain point and complete it, move on and learn from that. have fun.
