if you were teaching "sampling class" - topics???

hey people,

I'm going to teach a girlfriend of mine the basics of music production, including sampling. I sample a bit myself and do what I do but I want to make sure I cover all areas of sampling and not just what I know...

can anyone suggest particular techniques, methods and topics that I should include when teaching her sampling?

1. IDENTIFYING TEMPO - Finding the tempo of a sample to make it loop right
2. MATCHING DRUMS TO A SAMPLE
3. FILTERING
4. EQ
5. DYNAMICS / COMPRESSION
6. ORIGINALITY
7. SAMPLING ETHICS
8. BIT RATES / SOUND QUALITY

id start her off with a sp303, mpc seems a bit fast

I tried to teach my girl the basics of production and it didn't go to well.. lol..

I would teach her the functons of the MPC first. Like having her go into different programs and saving stuff then i would get into the other stuff..

just have her up in the lab with you...

under the desk

make her stay back late after class, and practise that beatmaking. dont tell her what to do, just give her the tools for her to find her own feet.
