Is ther a way to make the filter cutoof velocity dependant.... so if I hit the key softer it has more or less cutoff, and if I hit it hardder it has more or less cutoff?

It would be really nice if this is possible, this is what most synths do to give velocity layering, a sense of realism... this can sound really good on mulotisamples.

All help is appreciated....

Yeah, you can do this,
it is called READING THE MANUAL.

To do this:
1. get the manual
2. go to the index
3. move your eyes across the words till you find what you are interested in
4. turn to the right page
5. the the damn thing
6. then go try it yourself

ALTERNATIVELY
1. spend thousands of dollars on a top-of-the-range pro-machine
2. Don't read the manual
3. don't use all those thousands of dollars worth of features cos you're too lazy!

yo feline1,

I know you think you are a funny guy but what you are is in fact a rude fella from Brighton

if you don't feel like answering charlieo's question, then just chill and have a lager with your mates at the nearest pub

Cheers

CharlieO : I don't know how to do what you described but this is probably something under the "zone" page (hit F6 when on "KG Mix" of the "Program" mode)

IMO, charlieocali asked a RTFM question so he gets a RTFM answer. That's how it works.

Cause thats all feline ever says...It's actually a pretty good question too...If he knows so much perhaps he should answer. I think alot of peeps are afraid to ask just knowing folks will shoot them down.

That's not a good question. Sorry, that is So clearly in the manual, hell it's probably in the midi spec.

Perhaps I need to go back into my 4000 manual and find this?

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I opened the PDF manual and found what you're looking for in 10 seconds flat.

Seriously this is a textbook example of a RTFM question, no two ways about it.

Seeing as you (charlieocali) claim to have read both manuals and still have trouble finding the chapter about filter settings, I'll be a good boyscout today and walk you through it.

I think it would make sense to start with Chapter 7: "Creating and editing programs". You want to edit a note parameter, so let's try
the sub-chapter there entitled 'Editing Note Parameters'. And wouldn't you know it? The fourth heading in that sub-chapter is called 'Setting The Filter'. So you flip straight to that page (page 124), and almost at the bottom, it says:

Velo>Freq
This allows the velocity to control the filter. The larger the value, the clearer the sound becomes with the impact of the velocity. When this is set to 0, the tone is the same regardless of the velocity impact"

If the logic of the chapter>sub-chapter>paragraph structure escapes you, you could have tried searching the .pdf on 'filter' or 'velocity'. That would have gotten you straight to the money in seconds without even having to think.

Alternatively (dare I say it...) you could have been so bold as to try the 'open window' button on one of the filter fields... That's the first thing I would have done. I think you'll agree it's a logical place for the parameter you were looking for. Go ahead. You're not going to break anything by pressing the 'open window' button.

Oops, you have a 4000? Sorry, I thought I was in the 2000(xl) forum. Well, it can't be much harder on the 4000 anyway. Apply my previous post to the 4000 and you'll get there just as quickly.
