Best Records to Sample Drums

What type of music is it best to sample drums from. I've heard that it was jazz records.

Check out some Ace Of Base records for drum hits (you know, the swedish band)

Just research well known and famous drummers and look for thier work. Easy as that.

Normally I'd just clown aswell, but this is kinda sad since its so pathetic.
Some people just try to learn everything online instead of just gathering knowledge from experience. But please, if you want to find out the easy way try searching properly. Google,... Search function on this forum, etc..

All I can say for now is try and check the linier notes. Mostly the Albums of drummers got breaks on em. So if you hear a jazz or funk lp with hard hitting drums but no breaks on it try to look for solo stuff from the drummer of the session ya diiiigg???

dont feel bad for buying those comps. those break beat compilations on vinyl.

if you layer and chop them drums like you should, it doesnt matter if you sample comps.

although you might get some flack from purists.......just dont loop em shits....unless youre making a statement.

Start of with something like The Temple City Kazoo Orchestra. Great drums.

if its open and its nice SAMPLE IT!!!

i got mad collections of Drum Crazy Vol 1-6 and stuff like that...some great stuff there..

where's the challenge in saying, 'oh i need a real heavy kick so i'll just sample from someone's hard work'... in other words what's the challenge in sampling from breakbeat compilations? a purist i am, and that's why i straight up disagree with taking a shortcut like that... someone in that frame of mind will never understand the satisfaction of digging for weeks and then finding that snare you've been hearing in your head all along...

keep the art form true... try not to buy into the heavy commercial angles that are thrown in our face every time we turn around, including this website... "MIXING SIMPLIFIED"??? "DRUM LAYERING"??? man, get your hearing on and decide what you feel sounds right... too much money being spent and collected from people buying into these ridiculous commercial plots... i don't shun, but i also just can't fully respect someone's creativity if i later find out that the banging snare i was feeling was in fact engineered and marketed as a commercial venture on a sample c.d. which you bought and used. not pointing fingers, just venting a strong opinion...

and on yeah, lest we forget art blakey! haaaa
