Affordable Filter

Does anyone have suggestions for a good filter with lo hi and band pass plus some kind of effects processor with disortion 'n' sh*t.

Im thinking of MFC-42, but am not sure if i can get one since akai doesn't make em anymore.

So i'm thinking of somethin within 250-350€ (290-400$) price range...

It 's discontinued also but there are always a few up on the bay for a reasonable price.

I have 2 and have plugged just about everything into it (Bass, Guitar, Ion, Nor Micro, MPC, video outs, Kaos pad, Mics etc...) This thing can go from subtle to the piercing shrills of a B-movie scream queen.

It's just that i live in finland, so it may become hella expensive to order from the states. Also i have never ordered from ebay, so i don't fully trust it... i mean... do i get the gear i order or is there a possibility of losing my money...?

thats just like the filter queen , thats one was ill too not sure if there around still pssl.com or sweetwater.com i think they ship over seas.

anyways filter queen is my recommendation same as this they posted up top you can find those mfc-42 at these store also

has anyone ever tried building there own filter? i've always wanted to do this but i don't have the know how to do it.

I've got a filterqueen and I think it sounds pretty weak. The Frostwave Resonator http://www.frostwave.com sounds heaps better, and is cheaper.

I dont have a Frostwave Resonator but its modelled on a MS20, which I do have and love. Also, Frostwave will ship anywhere in the world..

Electrix is re-pressing their filter factory and mod fx units later this year. they we're supposed to be out in July but they pushed them back. That's why Ebay is full of the auctions, the new ones are supposed to rock!

Frostwave resonator doesn't quite convince me... What i like the most in MFC 42 is that it has two channels, one stereo (for anything) and one mono (for example bass) Electrix filter factory seems like a good option for me too.

That sherman filterbank would be great, but it's so damn expensive.

I owned the MFC42 briefly and would recommend it if an analog filter is what you want. Never used any other filters so I don't have the knowledge to suggest it over anything else mentioned in this thread. But it was a nice tool.

analog is definitely what i wan't... damn i gotta have that mfc 42!

And yeah the sherman filterbank is way too expensive, would be nice thou.
