Can you connect two mpc 2500s for more midi out and inputs? ( Somewhat like Dr. Dre's set up!)

i'm sure you can. don't know how. there are plenty of producers who link multiple mpc's togehter.

midii time code make one mpc the master and the others the slaves. Set the master mpc mid outs going into each other 4 mpcs.

the 2500 doesn't currently support midi time code (MTC) but you can still use MIDI Beat Clock with hase START, STOP, CONTINUE messages that the MPC will honor. I chain my MPC's together. You would just need to set your Soft-Thru correctly and you'd be all set...rockin' as many MPCs as you wanted...

How many MPCs (and which ones) do you chain together? Also, what specific role does each MPC play in the chain?

One point not to miss is that the previous mpcs had up to 4 programs that could play at one time hence Dre usually set up to 5 mpc in order to change his drum sets. With the 2500 Jahrome mentioned before that you can get up to 24 programs to play at the time. Why the redundance of 2 or 3 more 2500?

Why would you want more midi out when most modules have midi thru and midi out?

Yes.

Should get a MOTU Midi Express XT USB To Expand Outputs. That way you can configure your MIDI "ANY" way you want it.

The MOTU joints are alright...but the outputs of the MPC are more reliable.

The more modules you connect with through ports the lazier each module responds

I've got 15 pieces of midi gear running on three of the MPC 4k midi outs (the 4th is running MTC only). If you keep your cable runs short, you should experience no noticable midi lag whatsoever. Some of my music is very heavy with midi tracks (50 or more channels occassionally) and i've never had a problem with lag...

I have a alot less...and even with shorts runs...modules like the Fantom XR and Motif ES king of suck when it comes to responding to certain MIDI commands when they are daisy chained together. At some times, they suck when they received their own MIDI port.

^^^^word I noticed that too. They suck daisy chained together

A MIDI patchbay (thru box) will take care of everything, avoiding the daisychain clusterfuk.
