between note on and one shot

sup gang
so i was checkin out just blaze beatmaking video, and he got mpc4000, and he played samples like, hit the pad once, and the note came, till he hit another pad.. and the first sound stopped. so it's kinda like note on, but still one shot... so is this feature only in 4000? of course this topic could also be in 4000 section, but if there is someone who has both, please tell me.

The answer is yes you can do this on all MPC's...On the 4000, assign the samples to the same mute group. Hit one and the other cuts off...search these forums cause there's been plenty posted on this topic....

if you insist on not reading the documentation that accompanied your £600 purchase- you'll find that the open window pressed on partically every foield opens up a new window...still may need to rip the manual out to see what some of them do- plus heaven forbid you may learn something about your new bit of gear..

Except you can't on the 2000xl... Well you can for up to 3 samples (each cuts the other 2 off), but once you have more than 3 samples you're screwed. Sucks bigtime imho; mute groups are a neccessity for chopped loops..

another trick i do on my 3000, is when i run out of 'cutoffs', i assign an additional SILENT sound (just sample .1 seconds of silence) to that same pad , and then use that sounds 'cutoffs' for the rest that i need..

hope that makes sence its pretty simple

in the program mode change it from poly to mono and keep it on one shot


with note on you have to hold down the pad for the whole sample to play to the end,get the idea
