Pro-Tools 7

Has anybody upgraded to 7 yet? Are the new features worth the hassle of the upgrade? It took me a while to get MPowered to work on my MAC due to driver issues with my FW1814.

you have a dual processor mac or pc?

If yes then definitely get the upgrade, if no, then you might wanna hold off until digi works out some problems theyre havin with some plugs that are causing a decrease in performance.

If you do have a dual processor you'll love the performance increase.

if you work with soft synths then you'll like the new instrument tracks, it basically......

you know what, you can see all the new features at the digi site, if they sound appealin to you then upgrade, if not then........

cocoooo....how bad is it vs. running the previous 6.4 versions and i think 6.9 what are the major issues...

you familiar with the DaveC test?

Im runnin an Athlon 64 3400....

with 6.4 I got 32audio/31aux at 24bit/44.1 w/ 128 buffer

with 7.0 I got 32/17

Im gonna do the dverb test in a lil while, I got 48 with 6.4


as far as major issues...... NONE!

opened up old sessions fine, all my plugins work fine without havin to update any of em. So far my biggest "problem" is getting used to the menus, they've moved some stuff around but it does seem to make more sense now.

Although my "torture test" numbers are down it doesnt seem to be effecting "real world" sessions(who the hell is gonna use 245 eq's,compresors and delays or 48 reverbs anyway???)

All in all Im really feelin PT 7

it sounds good on the site i was going to get it earlier this week...but money wont be looking good until next week, so ill move on it then

Do you recommend a dual processor? How will an Imac G5 (2.1 Ghz, 1 GB ram) handle PT 7? Will I have any problems with an Imac G5?

Yes, PT 7.0 should work fine on that system....

yo did you upgrade pT 7 m-powered?? if so where,??i cant find where to download the new version

if you're a registered M Powered user you'll be receiving an email from digi with a dl link to your free upgrade.

M Powered was the last upgrade to be made available(barely a couple of days ago) so you should be hearing from them within a couple of weeks.....

i upgraded to 7 on my pc, i swear it loads way faster now and can handle more plugs with little slowdown
