Sampling time

how long can you sample something legally meaning i hear rumors that its ten and some say its five i just want to know the full truth i dont want to get sued or **** let me know thanks

This rule doesn't really apply until you start movin more units.When you're underground and on the come up they don't look at you untill you get to about 50,000 or so.And when you get big time,it's up to the record label to clear all samples.Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

see i wonder how Pete rock he is one of my best favorite producers then there is madlib and jaydee these guys sample real good shit all the time how do they get away with it so frequently

Most of the time if its a big time release they don't get away with it! They clear the sample first. Do a search on sample clearences.
