high pitch tone...

not sure if anyone has any suggestions for this, but...

when i'm tracking out my beats from my 1k into cubase, i am hearing a crazy, discreet high-pitch tone in the background of each track (in cubase)... i've troubleshooted this problem for a month now, making sure my cables are correct and checking all kinds of things like grounding, etc. the only thing i've figured out is that when i plug my midi in cable (m-audio uno) into the midi in of my 1k (to sync my computer and 1k) the high-pitch tone kicks in... it doesn't happen with my midi out cable... i'm wondering if it's a midi cable issue, or whether the hardrive of my computer is messing with something... i have a toshiba laptop and i run my 1k through my vestax mixer and into an m-audio usb transit that connects to my 1k through usb. i sync my drum machine to cubase so that when i hit record in cubase my drum machine transfers audio data onto individual cubase tracks. ANY suggestions are always appreciated,

Since you've checked everything out i would suggest moving some things around.Alot of times you can get interference like that from having audio/midi cables overlapping,mpc might be too close too he cpu,speakers might be too close to the cpu,etc.etc.Give it a shot if you can.

although i use a lexicon omega interface which has midi, i also use the m-audio uno with my 1000 and i track into nuendo. i've never experienced that tone b4. do like what was said above and move things around. make sure that the midi cable leads are pushed all the way in and make sure that you have the midi in light on the uno lit.

is your soundcard internal?
try switching pci slots... perhaps some other part of your PC is causing this.

midi feedback? check your midi settings/drivers
