SUP kats...I been away for a minute...
Been doing some things....I will ask this question then I will direct you Kats, Beat Mongers who really want to show off their Beat Skills...

My question is How do you make a High Hat Roll on a MPC 2K XL? YOu know how 99.9% of dirty South tracks? So far the only way I have done it is to either program 2 pads with the same HH and beat the hell outta both while programming a beat or Sample it from a Roland DR-202. Anybody else got the formula for this?

Anyway, Not sure of how many Kats on here from NC but every other month or so or when its announced we have a Producers Beat Battle in Greensboro, NC at Club 9 on Patterson Ave. I went to the GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP this past Sat night to the 6th one.The Winners of previous battles Battled it out. I plan to enter in 06 but check out the website, check the Kats that won, as well as previous winners..

The newcomers got eliminated quick and it wound up being the previous champions from previous battles. My man Rugged and Raw<-----( NC Aint ready for his style....He Straight NYC Flow with the Echo effects and WBLS Master Mix style) from Manahattan made it to the 4th round along with a kat named "Gav Beats", a dude called "The Apple Juice Kid"<-------This Kat looks like a Louis from Revenge of the Nerds, but has some of the Hottest tracks I ever heard...
Joe Kane made it to the 3rd round but not the 4th....He should have made it to the 4th but thats just me...When all the smoke cleared, Gav Beats walked away with the Championship belt.
Yall wanna check Gav out heres a link to his work:

Yall wanna check out this Kat...Off the Chain!!! Apple juice Kid.

This Kat here.....This was actually my favorite. He put on a 1 man show. NC ain't really accustomed to his style yet, since they have no concept of NYC lifstyle and to me his music fits the NYC scenario, way of life, and general Party Style:

Just a lil bit a knowledge for yall Hip Hop heads...

make two tracks.

Program the normal hats on one.

On the second, shift the notes ahead a bit in the section you want them to roll.

Click my soundclick link in my sig, listen to "If You Do Not". I did a hi hat roll in that one, and it sounds like what you are looking for. Thats how I did it.

double time, program your beat at 160bpms, lay one hi hat track down at 1/16, then one at 1/32

.....Yeah, Thats how I been doing it. I have assigned "HHats" to the bottom 4 pads and rock'em like that with all 4 fingers. I need to learn this Step Edit and Note Repeat stuff and all that. I experiemented some last night with Note Repeat but nothing happened. What mode do you need to be in?
Whats the procedure to repeat a note several times within the note?<---I guess thats the right termology...
ANyway, Like in Tics beat when he breaks it down before the beat drops, is that using the Variation slider to change the pitch of the note?.....

I got alot to learn...I got the manual ...Still reading it but I know you guys know more tricks than the manual can show me....

TIC Holla at me man.
