Mbox 2

Im looking to get an Mbox 2, I only have around $600 to spend on the hardware and i was wondering if this was the best one for that price range. Ive been looking around and i cant find anything better so far.

It only has two inputs but i can just run my mpc and keyboard in to a mixer and then run the mainouts on the mixer into the mbox right?

i just wanted to check to see what everyone thought about the mbox 2.

im about to get one...I think u should get it. you can find it used for less than that over inflated price of $500
its much better than the mbox1, conidering it has midi--finally (BIG DIFFERENCE!!)

and it supports the new protools (pt7)

i would suggest pro-tools mpowered, but you're gonna spend the same amount of cash as the m-audio interfaces dont come with protools software.

i dont really know anything about the protools plugins but what ones are the most usefull ? i dont wanna buy a bunch of ones that i dont really need or that do something that my 1k or my synth can do.

if considering an Mbox 2 or any Pro Tools interafce I strongly recommend ensuring that your PC/Mac is fully compatible, this will eleviate alot of headaches afterwards (if you got this down pat already great!) the biggest downfall I hear about the MBox 2 is its connectivity is still only USB 1.1, but running one input at a time I dont think it would stress the issue much. Make sure your computer is compatible first.

If your gonna buy one then get it before or on 20th Dec. You can get 2 extra plugins for about $25. You need an ilok too though.

Why would you buy that instead of one of those m-audio interfaces with more inputs?

that's cool and all but my personal preference, i wouldn't want anything just hanging out the back of my computer. that's just me. besides, running USB 1.1 isn't that bad with the mbox. i've used it running with everything connected and didn't have a bad experience with it at all. but going to back to the mbox(2), i don't know how much you can eventually save up but if doing PT i would save up for the 002 surface. even though m-audio has the m-powered PT, there are little differences between digi and m-powered.

look very close... I just got mbox 2 and it wasn't the ignition pack.. but when I got home and opened it up.. It WAS the ignition pack. Check it out. They might be the same, not sure, but, I paid 450.00 I think

ignition pack isnt the same as the factory bundle

The factory bundle is only 549... order it from a mail order catalog not in your state ofresidence and you won't pay tax, this keeps you in your 600 dollar range!

factory bundle is def worth it. i jus upgraded to 7 and got a pultec eq bundle and smack, gotamn they hooking it up for the bedroom producers.

i just got a powerbook g4 with all the memory and stuff maxed out...so it should be compatible right?
would it really be better to to get an m-audio box instead?
im gonna to take a look at those. do they also come with protools 7?

There is a few problems with the new powerbook laptops and the mbox2. Check the DUC for the latest info about it.

The M-Box2 and the G4 is whats up! we got ours back in october 05 and its held me down. We run my MPC and Triton into the mixer and the mixer goes into the M-Box2. Our lable just recently got a distrubition deal and are putting together our first nation wide album. As a result we were granted an advance and partnered with numerous investors so we have upgraded all our equipment. The M-Box2 has been replaced since our budget has increased and its now for sale...
