Question about Z4 and Sample Library combination

Originally, I was looking for a synth that specialized in brass, but I was told I'd do better with Sample Libraries... the type that offer multiple layers of each note so that I can play it similarly to a sound module... triggering individual notes with a controller.

But I'm also looking to avoid putting additional strain on my CPU, and I want something rackable. So...

Would a Z4 do the trick? I want to trigger the samples with a controller and use the Z4 like a sound module once I load the sample library contents.

Is this possible? If so, how would this work? Will the Z4 automatically recognize and assign the notes to the right keys so that when I press 'C' on my controller, a 'C' note is triggered from the Z4?

No one here uses samplers in this way?

z4 is exactly like the sampler in the mpc4000. so browse that forum for some general answers.

it can do exactly what you asked........and much more than I can explain in one post. What you are refering to is called "multisampling" and "keygroups"

check out www.eastwestsamples.com for some good samples. you have to realize that your gonna need to invest in quality samples and sometimes they get expensive.

a synth module like a fantom xr or motif rack might be cheaper and easier, but if you invest in your sample library a Z4 would be a better choice.
