I use the EF, but not really for bass (kinda weak, but it fits sometimes)

I mostly use it as a stepsequencer for analog synths and effects. That's right, a midi 16 slider step sequencer!!! People slept like rip van on that one!

one thing you can do is limit the slider range, it's in the manual, instead of going through all midi note values, just have it go from say 12 to 36, or 48, that will give you more control over the pitch. mess with the filter and resonance, there are some other tweeks, but it isn't the best at bass.

I just had a futz with it, it can sound pretty good. the rate knob does some sort of wave shaping or overdrive when turned up (sounds like a square wave distorted) a little filter and some resoance and it is pretty fun.

What exactly are you trying to achive?

i 'm just trying to get a driving bassline for a house song,

you kno a simple little 4-8 steps and then sample it and use that as my bassline , something driving and has that feel of pushing foward

does that make any sense

i don't use the step module much i use the effects alot more.

i have used the EF hooked up with the mpc , but i don't like the tones it gives out.

The bass synth is for 303 like bass, it works better if you us the sep sequencer.

If you want a 303 bass in your house track, then it can work. But you're not alone in not liking the tones.

you can get pretty close, for true 303, use rebirth, or get some clone, or get a 303.

seriously, it sounds pretty good. with eq it can be better.

Thanks to your post I messed around with it and got some great sounds with the bass and delay combo.

Ipersonally like the rate knob almost fully clockwise on just the bass synth.
