What programs are you going to instal on your PC. I use XP also, I use many different programs but mostly Sonic Foundry Products. XP works great for me. It is a memory hog though, you will need no less than 256mb RAM and recommended 850MHZ or higher CPU. If you do any less than that you will probably choke your PC with XP depending on how many tracks/busses/effects you have running in realtime. It will sound like someone keeps hitting the pause

i don't have any software for editing or tracking but you recomend SFP.
i don't kno if i want to edit stuff on my pc. i paid to much to not use my mpc. i want to use my pc for maybe adding effects to sounds, and to mp3 my music and upload.

what are the pros and cons of XP?

i guess you would need to have some sort of software.huh!

xp seems to work great with music ( i don't use a lot of progs so i can't tell with hardcore use ).Anyways check these sites to improve performances (a good way to configure windows not to do useless things for what you want your pc for )

Cool Edit Po is easier to get into than Sound Forge and Vegas Video.
You don't have to edit on PC that's just my choice though. You can also get the EB16 effects board in your MPC. I have it and use I it alot. But I have WAY more effects on my PC than my MPC will ever have..
