i was wonderin how to pimp up my mpc 1000's sound.
if i made a beat on my 1000 and i record it as a sample in my 2000 xl will it have the authentic 2000 xl sound? or does it still differ?

if your gonna run it through another mpc make it a 60 or 3000.

man, both the 2000's and the 1000 are cleaner sounding samplers, and running it through another machine would be ahassle, try recording to a cassette, warm's it up a bit.

You can also get a tube preamp, or even use a tube preamp VST to give it an overdrive feel. I wouldn't mess with moving from sampler to sampler. Is the preamp quality on the 1000 bad? I would think the DAC would be the same or better on the 1000.

Running the MPC 1000 through anything hardware tends to help it I think. I had a Mackie mixer that wasn't that nice, but it helped.

Using the onboard EQ and compression can make a big difference as well. I wasn't into the 1k sound for a minute, but running it through a mixer and using the onboard reverb, EQ, compression (on Master and Insert) I have been happy with the results.

One good choice might be a SansAmp PSA-1, which also comes in plugin form, I know RZA used that among probly a millino other things...."Vaccuum tube compression...." etc etc...

thnx all

i considered it because i find that the 2000 xl beats have more of a mpc sound than the 1000. runnin my beats through my soundcraft compact 4 adds a warm feel indeed, but it still sounds much cleaner than the 2000 xl and i like my beats with a little raw feel. i think i'm gonna try recording it to cassette if i find an old recorder. but what about recording to VHS ? i read about it on the forum, but im wonderin if it is better than recording to tape.

Good call, soundcraft has great Preamps and holds together when you overdrive it. Soundcraft is a great board for use with the MPC in my opinion.

how about learning how to mix before u just run signals through machines. everyone wants that magic machine without learning the art. music aint easy if you want the easy way out then perhaps you should rethink your choice.

the first part i have to agree iwth you, but music is as easy as you want it to be... a lot of times the easiest things to make are the greatest. anyway the reason i asked about what i should run the signal through is because i noticed the sound of my mpc2000xl has more characteristics than my 1000

ie older dirtier technology.

add your own effects later. it's better to have a clean signal andbe able to control it than having a dirty signal and no clean

u have missed the point i find mixing easy because I have been doing it for years. a person just starting will not find it easy until he has been doing it for a minute. when i was learning how to tie my shoe laces as a child i thought it was hard. i now do it everyday with ease.
