Sequence Help!!!!!!

Ok, I want my MPC 60 II to be the Brain of my production, but when recording a sequence from the ASR 10 the sounds switch up on me.

Ex: I recorded an Bass line on track 3 Chn 1A on the mpc, then i recorded some strings on track 4 CHn 2A. But when i play it back the sounds are gone. Any help?

You're certain the ASR has all its sounds set to the proper channels and has external MIDI control enabled? Best to narrow down the problem.

You stated that "the sounds switch up". Does this mean different sounds play back or that some sounds flip-flop? Whatzadeal?

In your example, the ASR should have the bass program assigned to Channel 1 obviously and the strings on Channel 2. Are your connections right? The MIDI out from the ASR should run to one of the ins on the MPC, doesn't matter which actually, and the MIDI out A on the MPC should connect to the MIDI in on the ASR.

I've never used an ASR so I can't help you beyond that.

if you change patches during recording the changes will be recorded.

here's what I do,

slow your seq down all the way, set your module to the sound right before the one you want, hit record, then on the module change the patch to the right one right away. Rinse, repeat.

this might work in step edit, but I haven't tried it.
