A Good Turntable...

I'm the market for a new turntable, basically to be used for sampling purposes. Can anyone recommend a few models? Price is somewhat of an issue, but i will pay for quality. I don't think i need a technic, but i do what the best buy for my money. Thx in adv.

this has been asked many times allready. i say the tech is the best buy for your money. but you should do a search on this forum and see what others say. good luck on your purchase

You might have some friends later that can lay down some scratches for you so get something that dj's can scratch on as well.

sl 1200mk2 = 300 dollars used. best tt ever. unchanged since the 70's, and still the top seller. should tell you something

THX TO ALL FOR YOUR INPUT. I AM LEANING TOWARD THE TECH BCUZ OF ITS REP, BUT WOULD THIS ELIM THE NEED FOR A MIXER AND/OR PREAMP? I AM ON A BUDGET, AND EAGER TO GET STARTED, BUT I WANT TO MAKE GOOD PURCHASES. I HAVE READ THAT THE STANTON WOULD BE GOOD FOR MY PURPOSES AS WELL AS A NUMARK. ANY ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS?

staton is good also but the tech has been around longer and every body is trying to be like it,
you will need a mixer to preamp yuor table just get a cheap mixer there not to grippish nowadaze try this place

I have taken apart many a tt, (im like MPC 3000 only with Turntables he he )
and the stantons do have a great build quality (now) for the $$$> they used to be whack. Id stay away from str8 arms, they skip less but sacrifice sound quality. the s shaped arm is the BEST with a conventional needle (note I said CONVENTIONAL, I aint talking about some 10 grand audiophile deck).

VEsatx PDX (make sure you check the platter for that BAD wobble that makes it useless for scratching or sampling from, if its made post 2001 it should (note should, not will) be ok. THey have mad manufactuing problems with vestax tt;'s

my advice is: if you cant afford techs, save up unitl you can. buying another kind is akin to buying an S20 and expecting it to perform like an MPC. It aint gonna happen.
