hooking up the s900 to the sp1200

can someone help me out with hooking up my s900 to my sp1200 via midi? essentially, i want my s900 to play all the long samples and my sp1200 to play the drums. whereas my sp1200 is the midi controller.

BTW, I am a sp12/s950 user and I dont see whats wrong with FL Studio..

sp12(00) fatter than akai?
i have a s900 and i consider to buy an emax (same soundengine than sp12). would you recommend it?
i d like to use it for drums and bass from the mpc.

perhaps you should try using a midi cable..

The effect the dynamic filter has is dramatic. I think only the 1 and 2 outputs have dynamic filtering, 2 less than one. There are two SSM2044's in there.

using the SSM2047 combined VCF/VCA chip. They are very nice, but don't expect fat Moog filter sounds !

do you think the emu is crispier than the akai? know its subjective, but would you buy an emu 12bit sampler, when you have an akai 12bit?

i've never messed with an akai s900 , but I have an mpc 60 and it has a nice sound for kick drums, but not the greatest sound for shimmering cymbals. I'm not sure how similar the sounds of the s900 and mpc 60 are so that comparison might be useless.

I've heard an sp1200 that was recorded into pro tools and it sounded great, but you have to pay upwards of $1000 for that great sound.

it is probably easier to sequence on an mpc and use reason 3.0 via midi or some other peice of hardware for ure drums and long samples. Or just use the mpc's quarter inch outs for ure drums and mess with the samples on ure computer and put them back into the mpc. I went the route of getting an emu emulator III for that and using the mpc 60 for the sequencer

what i know its the same soundengine

mpc60= s900
mpc2000= s2000
mpc1k= s3200

i also think the 12bit are the best for kick, snare, bass... not for highfreq. like hihats, cymbals....

perhaps i check out an emax1 on ebay
