I was wondering if anyone knew how to synthesize a voice to sound like devante swing from jodeci? what kinda equipment can do this?

A vocoder for the "robotic" bent (a la Mr. Swing and Teddy Riley), and a talk box for the more "organic" sound (a la, Mr. Troutman and TR, as well as a host of guitar heros).

ohh hot..... what would you recommend? as a vocoder? and what kinda money would i be lookin at droppin?

ohh yeah is there any software that can do this that will work with a mic and a midi controller?

check out the microkorg and the micron. they both have vocoders but the microkorg comes with a mic too.

yea the micron has one. all you do is plug the mic to the synth and play the notes while you talk

the micron is it a good keyboard. and the sounds that it gives what is the mic suppose to do. Does it play your voice at different octaves or something. and is there a song that i can look for that they used it in so i can see what it does.

The mic lets you 'shape' the sound with your voice.

google "vocoding"/vocoder:: basically the synth sound determines the notes and general sound, and the mic/voice signal filters it to sound like talking.

or just get a plugin vocoder for ur sequencer if u use one?... i used to have one called 'orange' i think it was made by steinberg and it was real simple to use, and sounded good. - i think theres a native instruments one called vokator, which is probably dope cos all they ish is good.
