lack of mixing and proccessing here?

yo what's with this? it seems like i hear everyone tlakin this n that n this.. but never about mixing with a real mixing board, or any post eq tricks...

it's kinda shitt,y somone will drop $1000 on an sp1200, or 800 on an mpc60, or even 1200 on a 3000 but the not have the mixing gear to really back up the good sound...

the mixer is one the keys to a good drum beat...EQ EQ EQ....!

but it doesn't seem many here really think about that? or maybe i'm just missing it...

some people being proud they juse use an mpc60 or sp1200 without using anything else, or any mpc for that matter... that isn't something to be proud of, it's better to use more.

For putting up beats @ myspace/ soundclick or different forums, I think it's okey just to use the internal mixer in the MPC and use some of the effects if you want to. If you are going to release something or sell a beat, you can always track the beat out and do some more serious post production in for example a DAW.

I've mixed on a lot of different boards over the years but here in my studio I have 2 O2r's cascaded together. I record dry and with no EQ 99% of the time. Perhaps a bit of compression to tame unruly signals while tracking and then apply FX, Dynamics processors, and EQ while mixing. It would be hard for me to work without a mixer. I use the automated mixing functions daily in my work. In the case of the O2r, there are onboard effects as well as a seperate gates, compressor / limiter / expanders on each channel which frees up my nicer outboard processors for those mix elements I put up front. While all this can be done with a computer, I prefer thew feel of 100mm faders and a dedicated control surface over working with a mouse.....
