What does it mean 2 put a envelope on a sample/ drum ? What exactly is this useful 4 ?

envelopes basically allow you to make your Kicks and Snares, etc, tighter.

like all the current hip hop and RnB tracks...eg, like in dre's, timbalands, and neptunes tracks.

the envelope filter cuts off parts of sample to make things more random to technically put it.

the end result means that your drums pump out and bounce better, they flow much nicer and it also improves the clarity of samples, i.e. you can make a very loose snare sound 'neck smacking' tight.

you'll know it when you use it...
