Hi everyone
I just got an MPC2000XL. Can anyone give the basic lesson on how I should creat a basic drum track.eg. which is the best tempo I mean should I start 30bpm and increase the tempo when i am done? :cry:

this is the easy part....
Did your machine come with a demo disc?...if so load up that program and midi file and twerk them pads. Get Low! From the windows! To the walls! Till the sweat run down them balls! Make all these bitches crawl!(skeet skeet!)

as far as the tempo, unless you're getting really technical with yours, the tempo is pretty much "set it and forget it"...a good start is at 90 bpm.

Ok, this is how you start. Use the step sequencer, and put a snare on 5 and 13. This is in the standard 16 note sequence.

Now that you have your snare down, select a good kick drum.

press play... All you should hear, is the snare.

In rythem, press the pad that has your kick. When you find a groove that you like, record it in real time. Just play those pads like a hand drum.

After you get your kicks and snares all wraped up, add the High hats.

I suggest putting them at random, and then going into step sequence and making addjustments where needed. This will give a nice orriginal feel.
