Hi,
I'm not an MPC owner but I am thinking, seriously thinking of becoming one. It seems though that (I could be terribly wrong) most MPC heads are using it for hiphop or other non 4x4 type of music...I'm much more into anything from (groovy) house to hard pounding techno....using a bunch of other machines (mainly synths, a 'proper' sampler and a machinedrum) will any MPC benefit me? My current gearlist: Electron Machinedrum, Novation Nova, Yamaha an1x, Yamaha a4000, Yamaha cs2x, Roland d50 (not used), Roland mc303 (not used), Novation Bassstation Keys, Yamaha tg500, Casio Cz101, Casio Sk-1 (I actually use that one quite a bit) and some other tools. So that's a whole lot of stuff I need to sequence (allthough I may get rid of some of that gear)
Basically I need a machine that will have let me acces tons of my own drums samples on the fly, input/play/program them into my sequences and also sequence my other gear. I am very tempted by the mpc range, because the idea of pads is *very* tempting to me....
I know the Akais are famous for their tight timing, their punchy sound but I need to know how easy it is to access a vast library of seperate drumsounds quickly and easily (my current sampler won't let me do just that) and how good it will fit in with my styles of music (how ridicilous that may sound) and if it will be adequate to sequence entire tracks (on outboard gear)...
I would love to hear from people with a similar setup that use the Akai MPC (2000xl, 4000 or 1000) and would like to share their experiences with me.
cheers,
Bazziman
