This is the same technology from the SSL XL 9000 mixer. It features the same compresors, gates and eq's from that mixer channel. Any instrument or mic put thru one of these bad boy gives you an authentic sound. This is what gives producers like Dr Dre that great sound.

What gives Dre. and everyboby else that great sound is an understand of the instrument or voice that he is recording and of the production process. There's no denying that relly good mics and pre-amps give a better 'quailty' sound but with a bit of knowledge about what you are recording and where and an understanding of the mixing process you can get great results.
Don't be so quick to jump on the latest gear. Do you like hip hop? If so, I'm sure alot of the albums that you have and love were recorded in some seriously budget home studios. Use what you've got to get the best sound, other wise you'll always think the grass is greener.
This is nothing personal Uno it's just my thoughts on heads who i've met that always say "if only i had the new XXX13456 my beats would be amazing" etc etc. For anyone that thinks like that just remember, DJ Shadow made Entroducing on one MPC, he made Private Press on 2 and a Roland Vari-phase sampler, there's loads more examples of people who, ok they don't have that 'Brittney Spears' polished amazing bright sound but they've got personality with the gear they've got.
Peace, no disrespect, just clearing my head.
