What compression settings for bass?

What compression settings for bass?

Hey guys what compression settings do you normally use for bass?

If you need more specific information: normally i dont really feel the need for compression on my bass when i play it in oneshots. but now i have filtered the low end from a track and cutted it up but it surely needs some compression. I got a standard compression setting for my drums but not for filtered bass. anyone? ( im using a 1000 )

standard sttings don't exist.

compressors r different
bass sounds r different
notes r different
velocity changes
songs r different

u get the point too many variables.
twist and turn di knobs til it sounds like sumthin

I very rarely compress bass.

And yea, as previously said, there are no "standard settings." Every instrument, on every track is different

most try to catch the b4, I usually go for both and use OTB summing via a dangerous music product.

my shunyata research IEC cabling also helps as well :wink:

ooooooohhh. see I've tried to catch it before and it just didnt work out.

I'm gonna try your technique next time.

Maybe then jiggy pop beats will knock like Nitty's. :)

eh, i really prefer 11.99, and only with my audiophile wooden knobs...

thanks you guys have been very helpfull ! i'll make sure to set my compression settings all to 12 now ! hell, i'll even put my ratio to 1:20


i was just lookin for a tip on compression for the low end like when you sampled a song with instruments and vocals on it but you only wanna filter out the low end for the bass. but once you done that your signal is way to weak and when you just compress it louder it'll sound muddy. im sure there is a way to beef it back up...so my question was if anyone can provide me with a tip on that. clear enough?

Compression is like an automatic volume control. So, if your levels are inconsistent, it will keep them from peaking above the level you set your threshold at.

To "beef it up," use filters, EQ, and an expander

sounds like you need to experiment a little more with EQ
