GROUPING samples.......gimme some tips please

ive been having some problems with chosing which samples out of my library should be grouped together to use in a song.

what is your method of choosing which samples you will use?

I personally dont have any imparticular methods. If I have a general idea of what I want my beat to sound like, then Ill rumage through my ingredients until I find the sounds that are playing in my head and if I cant find a certain one, then I use the one thats more similar and just tweek it. For example, if I wanted to make a beat that was more on the "laid back side" Id choose a sample somewhat similar to the snare used in "The Roots-You Got Me" or if I wanted the beat to just smash on some ish then Id grab a snare sample from like Rage Against the Machine or perhaps "Eminem's - Till I Collapse". what i do is just a whole siht load of samples into the program that im working with that fit my mood and then play them and mix them up until i find a good combination..and then clear out the program only with the samples that im groovin to
