The drums are not speed up, the sample itself is probably pitched up high and mids and bass are filtered out....

I agree with lampdog and also let me add that the timing plays an important role as well. You can adjust your timing to get different placement on your drums like

instead of 1/16 try 1/32 it will give you that quick twista sound or those fast congas

Yeah, I always record at 1/16(3) and 1/32.. gives me more freedom on the pad timing with my hits, I can create my own swing..

This track has the same format as Poppin Tags off of the Gift and the Curse......Well its the same producer......that tends to happen sometimes.......Oh well
