Mixing ?????

Sup yall i been making beats for over a year now, and i must say im getting pretty good....but now i need to step up my mixing game ...
i just recently got pro tools. I need some hel,p my mixing techniques suck...plain and simple... when mixing vocals ..what am i supposed to do..as far as compressing , D verb, effects .....shh like that .. i used to work with cool edit ..but i wasnt the one doing the mixing. So that why i need yall help , yall know pro tools is way better than cool edit so i wanted to know if yall can help out .

what does each effect do to the vocals ??
as far as making the vocal sounds clear and crisp
i know a lil about echoes and shh like that, but as far as compressing ad d verb ...im lost

Get a good mic and never over do the reverb on vocals (never go over 2% wetness, my personal rule). Also look into a RTAS plug in called VoxCiter from Prosoniq. Its dope. Good luck!

What other gear are you working with? What version of protools??

I work with Pro Tools LE 6 with a Digi001, my buddy records the vocals down at his lab in LA on a Digi002 wih something called a Blue Mic. Then he sends or brings em up here and I touch up the vocals with effects and filters. The Vox Citer really makes vocal tracks shine though. Its cool as ****. I can post a snippet later.
