timing signatures/sp 1200?

what timing signatures are getting used for hip hop? i almost always go 4/4 and just want to make a beat so i don't fool with the rest... any ideas?
on another topic: can the sp 1200 trigger external modules? say s950? i keep hearing about this setup and don't understand if the s950 is just for editing, filtering, etc the samples or if the sp can trigger the s950. dumb questions but maybe i can get some quick responses. peace.

I use 4/4 for Hiphop and Rnb and I have been playing around with 3/4 on a reggae track but i am just playing with it, I got the advise from this dreadhead who plays guitar and drums......As far as the second part of the question you might want to ask doveski.....I think he has the 950 I aint sure though but you may want to ask him

dunno if this helps, but I use 16/16 in the tsig field. wayyy easier to do the editing.
