time stretch ? in sound forge 7 ?

hello i am trying to learn how to timestrech and stuff highyer up my pitch and try to rip vocals out of samples? but when i use time strecth in sound forge it doesnt do anything? it doestnt even look like it works? liek ill select my sampl and press time strecthc and boom notta! nuhting! help!

Do you know what your doing? U cant just Click timestretch and expect it to timestretch. How much are you trying to timestretch the sample by, and from what?

When I come to think about it, Ive already answered a similar question. It should be floating around here somewhere.

As for pitching up sounds, that feature is under EFFECTS. Under PITCH, select SHIFT

Finally, I would 4get about ripping vocals coz it just aint gonna happen. Trying filtering & EQ'ing instead

obviously i have to change tempo ? right?

just wondering, what are you try to timestretch and why are you trying to timstretch????? because i dont know why you have to change the tempo for timestretching. You are trying to make the sample longer, you really dont screw with the tempo.

Im not mad....Ive just got the feeling you dont quite know what u are trying to do here. Tell me what you are trying to do then things might become a little bit clearer. So far, ive told you how to Timestretch.

What does that tell me? A sample? Of what? A snare? A vocal?

Why do you want it longer? What you trying to do? You gotta explain things a bit better or Im affraid im gonna have to walk away from this situation

can u just explain exactly what time stretch does? i dont know what it does ? i just got into sampling and i am having trouble becasue some samples that i grab are not exactly 4 or 8 bars and i need em to be? so how can i fix em up to fit? u know? thx any info would be appreciated! thx again sorry for sounding lame but you gotta start somewher!

Just freekn' use every setting in the Timestretch option and see what it does.... Nothing is gonna explain Timestretch better that hearing the results with your ears...and if you cannot figure soundforge out.. (even though its easy) then break out the Manual my friend... I must have spent countless hours listening to what different effects and processing does to my samples before I got it right...

well maybe i got a bad copy of sound forge cause i dont even have options when i press time strech ?

Joebonix, what version of sound forge are you using? (I use 7.0 but I started out with 4.5e and worked my way up.) It would help if you post what you are working with/on so peeps can possibly help with situational solutions..
